I declare this artwork finished! I expected more from the background, I had hoped to have the patience for a bookshelf or something, but clearly that did not happen. So yeah this is suppose to be Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes from the BBC mini series, I don't think I nailed it, but I tried. He looks more like Jonathan Rhys Meyers. URG! This study in realism sure is challenging.
Mixed medium: watercolor, marker, pencil crayon, pencil. 8.5 x 11 inches on bristolboard.
It's very easy to set up. The resolution usually isn't a big deal, since most uploaded pictures are good quality. ( Especially this one. ) Here's a link for answers to any questions you might have: help.deviantart.com/150/
It's up to you whether or not you want to make this into a print, but i can tell you that i'd buy one in a heart beat if you do.
Great job! I can definitely see Jonathan Rhys Meyers, but at the same time I do see Benedict. I know how you feel though - I've tried to draw him before and he's so hard to capture! But this really does look great. I love the textures
Thanks! Isn't it strange how by not getting some of the features right suddenly somebody else appears?! I was like "Jonathan Rhys Meyers what are you doing here, get out of my painting!" LOL. I guess that tells me I need more practise with portrait realism. But it was still fun
